A PC that roughly matches a PS5 has an RTX 2070 Super, RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT class graphics card, an 8-core Zen 2 or similar CPU (Ryzen 7 3700X class), 16 GB of RAM and a fast NVMe SSD. Estimate
Because GTA 6 was built around the PS5, that PC is a reasonable target for console-like settings if a PC version arrives.
The PS5 uses an AMD processor and graphics chip from the same families sold for PCs, so it can be compared with desktop parts. The comparison is never exact. Consoles run lean system software and games are tuned for one fixed machine, which lets them do more with the same hardware. Treat the matches below as a rough guide, not a benchmark.
PS5 specs and their PC equivalents
| Part | PS5 (official) | Rough PC equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | 8-core AMD Zen 2, up to 3.5 GHz | Ryzen 7 3700X class (lower clocks) |
| GPU | AMD RDNA 2, 36 CUs, 10.28 TFLOPS | RX 6600 XT to RX 6700, RTX 2070 Super, RTX 3060 |
| Memory | 16 GB GDDR6, shared | 16 GB system RAM plus an 8 GB graphics card |
| Storage | 825 GB SSD, 5.5 GB/s raw | Fast PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD |
PS5 specs are Sony's Official. PC equivalents come from community comparisons of game performance Estimate.
Why the comparison is only rough
- Shared memory. The PS5 shares 16 GB between the game and graphics. A PC splits system RAM and VRAM, and Windows uses more memory than the PS5's system software.
- Fixed hardware. Developers tune console games for one machine. PC versions must work across thousands of combinations.
- Different features. PC cards may have better upscaling (like DLSS) or ray tracing that the console lacks, and the reverse can be true for storage decompression.
What about the PS5 Pro?
Sony quotes up to 45% faster rendering for the PS5 Pro's graphics, along with much faster ray tracing and PSSR upscaling. That places it roughly in RTX 4070 territory for graphics, though its processor stays close to the base PS5's Estimate.
What this means for GTA 6 on PC
GTA 6 runs at 30 FPS on PS5 Reported. A PC that matches the PS5 should manage something similar at similar settings when a PC version exists. To go higher, you would need a faster processor for the busy city scenes and a stronger graphics card. Our labelled GTA 6 PC requirements estimate lays out each tier, and Can I run GTA 6? checks your exact parts.
Is it cheaper to build a PS5-level PC?
Usually not. A PC with matching parts, plus Windows, a case, power supply and controller, typically costs more than a PS5, and GTA 6 has no PC version yet. A PC wins on flexibility and other games, not on GTA 6 cost. See console now or wait for PC.
FAQ
What graphics card is equal to a PS5?
Roughly an RTX 2070 Super, RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT class card, based on community game performance comparisons.
What CPU is equal to the PS5's?
An 8-core Zen 2 chip like the Ryzen 7 3700X, though the PS5 runs at lower clocks.
Will a PS5-level PC run GTA 6?
It should be close to console quality when a PC version exists, but there are no official PC specs yet.
