GTA 6 PC Requirements: Minimum, Recommended and What Is Official

Rockstar has not published PC specs, because there is no PC version yet. Here is what is known, a labelled estimate for each tier, and how your parts compare.

Quick answer

There are no official GTA 6 PC requirements, because Rockstar has not announced a PC version. Unknown GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only.

Our estimate: plan on a graphics card with at least 8 GB of VRAM in the RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT class, 16 GB of RAM, a modern 6 to 8 core CPU and an NVMe SSD to match console quality. Estimate

Search for GTA 6 PC requirements and you will find dozens of "minimum" and "recommended" tables. None of them come from Rockstar Games. Grand Theft Auto VI is a console game at launch, and Rockstar has said nothing about a PC version, let alone its specs. This page does three things instead. It tells you what is actually known, it gives an estimate for each settings level with the reasoning shown, and it points you to the tools that compare your own hardware.

This is the spec sheet people search for. It is our estimate, not Rockstar's, laid out the way official requirements usually are so you can compare your PC line by line. Estimate

When Rockstar announces the PC version, the specs normally appear on the same day, on the Rockstar Support site and the store pages. We will replace the estimates below with the official numbers that day, and the date will show in the update log at the bottom of this page. For the release timing in detail, see is GTA 6 on PC?

Why every "official" GTA 6 PC spec list you see is a guess

Most spec lists online were written before anyone knew how GTA 6 would run, and they disagree badly. One popular list calls a GTX 1660 the minimum. Another says an RTX 3080. A third repeats a garbled list that mentions a studio that does not exist. If a page says the PC requirements were "revealed", check the source. If it is not Rockstar, it is a prediction.

We can still make a useful estimate, because two things are known for certain. First, the exact hardware GTA 6 was built to run on: the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. Second, the official PC specs of Rockstar's most recent PC release, GTA V Enhanced, which shows how Rockstar writes its requirements today.

What GTA 6 runs on: the console hardware

A PC port has to match or beat the consoles to look the same. These are the official console specs from Sony and Microsoft Official:

ConsoleCPUGPUMemory
PS58-core AMD Zen 2, up to 3.5 GHzAMD RDNA 2, 36 CUs, 10.28 TFLOPS16 GB GDDR6, shared
Xbox Series X8-core Zen 2, 3.8 GHzRDNA 2, 52 CUs, 12.15 TFLOPS16 GB GDDR6, shared
Xbox Series S8-core Zen 2, 3.6 GHzRDNA 2, 20 CUs, 4 TFLOPS10 GB GDDR6, shared
PS5 ProZen 2 class (same family as PS5)Upgraded GPU, up to 45% faster rendering (Sony)16 GB GDDR6 plus 2 GB

Two details matter for PC players. The PS5 graphics chip performs roughly like a desktop RTX 2070 Super or RX 6600 XT, based on community comparisons Estimate. And GTA 6 runs at 30 fps on these machines Reported, which hints that the dense cities and crowds lean hard on the CPU. A PC that wants 60 fps will need a much stronger processor than the console's.

GTA 6 PC requirements estimate by settings level

These tiers are our estimate, worked out from the console hardware above and from how Rockstar scaled GTA V Enhanced. They are a planning guide, not a promise. Estimate

TierGraphics cardCPURAMStorage
Low, 1080p (below Xbox Series S quality)6 GB card, GTX 1660 Super or RTX 3050 class6 cores, Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i5-1040016 GBSSD
Console-like, 1080p to 1440p8 GB card, RTX 3060, RTX 2070 Super or RX 6600 XT class6 to 8 modern cores, Ryzen 5 5600 or Core i5-1240016 GBNVMe SSD
High, 1440p and higher frame rates12 GB card, RTX 4070 or RX 7800 XT class8 fast cores, Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Core i7-1370032 GBNVMe SSD
4K high16 GB card, RTX 4080 or RTX 5080 class8 fast cores32 GBNVMe SSD

Upscaling (DLSS on Nvidia cards, FSR on AMD) would move each tier down a step, as it does in most big PC releases. Rockstar has not said which upscalers GTA 6 would support on PC. To see where your exact card lands, use Can I run GTA 6?, which works through the same logic for more than 40 graphics cards.

The official baseline: GTA V Enhanced PC requirements

GTA V Enhanced came out on PC on 4 March 2025. Its Steam listing is the most recent set of PC specs Rockstar has written, so it shows the style and the floor Official:

GTA V EnhancedMinimumRecommended
GraphicsGTX 1630 or RX 6400 (4 GB VRAM)RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT (8 GB VRAM)
ProcessorCore i7-4770 or FX-9590Core i5-9600K or Ryzen 5 3600
Memory8 GB16 GB
Storage105 GB, SSD required105 GB SSD with DirectStorage
OSWindows 10Windows 11

Two lessons from that list. Rockstar already requires an SSD for a 2013 game, so a hard drive is very unlikely to be enough for GTA 6. And GTA V Enhanced asks for 16 GB of RAM and an 8 GB graphics card at recommended settings. GTA 6 is a new game built for newer hardware, so treat those numbers as the absolute floor, not the target.

Graphics card: how much VRAM will GTA 6 need?

Video memory is the spec most likely to rule out older cards. The consoles share 16 GB between the game and the system, and recent open-world games on PC often struggle on 4 GB cards. We expect 6 GB to be a practical floor and 8 GB to be the comfortable minimum Estimate. Laptops with a 4 GB RTX 3050 or RTX 2050 are the most at risk. Our GTA 6 VRAM guide goes card by card.

Processor: why the CPU matters more than usual

GTA games simulate a whole city: traffic, pedestrians, police and physics all run on the processor. The console version runs at 30 fps, and the consoles have eight Zen 2 cores. A six-core CPU from 2019 or newer should handle console-like settings. For a steady 60 fps, look at a modern eight-core chip, ideally one with a large cache such as AMD's X3D models Estimate.

RAM: 16 GB is the realistic minimum

We would plan on 16 GB of system RAM as the minimum and 32 GB for high settings Estimate. That matches GTA V Enhanced's recommended spec and the September 2026 Steam Hardware Survey, where 32 GB systems (42%) overtook 16 GB (38%) for the first time. If you have 8 GB, RAM is the cheapest upgrade on this page. More detail: how much RAM GTA 6 needs.

Storage: SSD, and probably NVMe

Expect GTA 6 to need an SSD on PC, because GTA V Enhanced already does. The console install is estimated at about 200 GB Estimate, and PC versions often grow larger with high-resolution textures. An NVMe drive is the safe choice if DirectStorage is supported, as it is for GTA V Enhanced. The GTA 6 file size guide tracks the real number.

Operating system and DirectX 12

Plan on 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11 with DirectX 12. GTA V Enhanced already moved to DirectX 12 and lists Windows 10 as its minimum and Windows 11 as recommended Official. Microsoft ended free support for Windows 10 in October 2025 (paid extended security updates aside), so a new game could require Windows 11 for some features. Rockstar has said nothing about GTA 6 on Windows yet Unknown. More in will GTA 6 run on Windows 10?

Ray tracing, DLSS, FSR and frame generation

GTA 6 uses ray-traced lighting and reflections on consoles, according to technical analysis of the trailers Reported. On PC, ray tracing would very likely be an optional setting, with a large cost to frame rates. Upscaling is what will make mid-range cards viable: Nvidia's DLSS (deep learning super sampling) on GeForce RTX cards, AMD's FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) on Radeon and most other cards, and Intel's XeSS on Arc. The PS5 Pro uses Sony's own upscaler, PSSR. Frame generation (DLSS Frame Generation or FSR Frame Generation) can raise the frame counter further, but it adds input lag and works best when the game already runs near 60 fps. Rockstar has not confirmed which of these GTA 6 would support on PC Unknown, though GTA V Enhanced added DLSS, FSR and ray tracing. See will GTA 6 support DLSS?

Power supply (PSU)

If you upgrade your graphics card for GTA 6, check the power supply first. Nvidia and AMD list a recommended PSU for every card: around 550 W for an RTX 4060 or RX 7600 class card, around 650 W for an RTX 4070 or RX 7800 XT class card, and 750 to 850 W for an RTX 4080 or RTX 5080 class card. Use a quality unit with the right PCIe power connectors. A weak or old PSU is a common cause of crashes after a GPU upgrade.

Laptops

Gaming laptops follow the same rules, with two catches. Laptop graphics chips are slower than desktop cards with the same name, and many budget models ship with only 4 to 6 GB of VRAM. A laptop with an RTX 4060 and 16 GB of RAM is a reasonable target for console-like settings Estimate. See GTA 6 laptop requirements.

Where GTA 6 would be sold on PC

If the PC version arrives as reported, expect it on Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Rockstar Games Launcher, the same stores that sell GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC Estimate. There is no GTA 6 store page on any PC store today, so a site taking PC pre-orders or offering a "PC download" is not official. Read why GTA 6 free downloads are scams.

Mac, Steam Deck and cloud gaming

  • Mac: Rockstar has not released GTA V or Red Dead Redemption 2 natively on macOS, so a Mac version of GTA 6 is unlikely. See is GTA 6 on Mac?
  • Steam Deck and handheld PCs: they need a PC version first, and their integrated graphics sit far below the Xbox Series S. See GTA 6 on Steam Deck.
  • Cloud gaming: Xbox said GTA 6 will not stream to PC at launch, and it is not on GeForce Now. See GTA 6 cloud gaming.

Should you upgrade now or wait?

Wait for the official specs before buying anything expensive, unless you need the hardware for other games. Prices change, and Rockstar's numbers could land higher or lower than any estimate. Two upgrades are safe now: moving from 8 GB to 16 GB of RAM, and moving from a hard drive to an SSD. Both help every modern game. If you want to play on day one, the console route is the only option, and the best console for GTA 6 compares them.

GTA 6 PC requirements FAQ

What are the minimum requirements for GTA 6 on PC?

There are no official minimum requirements yet. Our estimate is Windows 10 64-bit, a 6-core CPU such as a Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB of RAM, a 6 GB graphics card such as a GTX 1660 Super or RTX 3050, and an SSD with about 200 to 250 GB free.

What are the recommended specs for GTA 6?

Our estimate for 1440p at high settings is a modern 6 to 8 core CPU, 32 GB of RAM, an 8 to 12 GB card such as an RTX 4060 Ti or RX 6700 XT, and an NVMe SSD. Official specs are not out.

Can GTA 6 run on 8 GB of RAM?

Unlikely to run well. GTA V Enhanced already recommends 16 GB, and GTA 6 is a far denser game. Treat 16 GB as the minimum.

Will GTA 6 need ray tracing on PC?

Probably not as a requirement. PC games almost always let you turn ray tracing off. It would be an optional setting for stronger cards.

Will GTA 6 run on Windows 10?

Unknown. GTA V Enhanced supports Windows 10, but Microsoft ended free Windows 10 support in October 2025, so a new game could require Windows 11.

Are the GTA 6 PC requirements out?

No. Rockstar has not announced a PC version, so there are no official minimum or recommended specs. Lists online are predictions.

What graphics card will GTA 6 need on PC?

Our estimate is an 8 GB card in the RTX 3060, RTX 2070 Super or RX 6600 XT class for console-like quality, and a 6 GB card for low settings. These are estimates until Rockstar publishes specs.

Can a GTX 1650 run GTA 6?

Unlikely to run it well. The GTX 1650 has 4 GB of VRAM and is far slower than the PS5's graphics chip, and it already sits near the bottom of GTA V Enhanced's list.

Will 16 GB of RAM be enough for GTA 6?

Probably for low to console-like settings. GTA V Enhanced recommends 16 GB. For high settings we would plan on 32 GB.

Will GTA 6 run on a hard drive?

Very unlikely to run well. GTA V Enhanced already lists an SSD as a minimum requirement, and GTA 6 streams a far bigger world.

When will Rockstar release the GTA 6 PC specs?

Most likely when the PC version is announced. GamesBeat reports a release in the first quarter of 2027. We update this page the day specs appear.
