How the GTA 6 release date changed

Will GTA 6 be delayed again?

Nothing official points to another delay. Take-Two has repeated that GTA 6 is on track for 19 November 2026, pre-orders are live, and the pre-load date has been announced Official. An anonymous 4chan post claiming a February 2027 delay was not backed by any source, and Take-Two said the game was still on track. A former Rockstar animator said he would not be shocked by another delay, but he has no inside information. With pre-loading less than a month away, a delay this late would be very unusual Estimate. If anything changes, this page and the countdown above update the same day.

What releases on 19 November

Grand Theft Auto VI is set in the state of Leonida, Rockstar's take on Florida, centred on Vice City. It follows two lead characters, Jason and Lucia Official. It launches as a single-player game, with an online mode planned for later Official. Rockstar North's co-studio head Rob Nelson has said the main story takes about 80 hours including some optional content, and the map is reported to be about twice the size of GTA V's Reported.

What to expect on release day

Expect a day-one patch at unlock even if you pre-loaded, so keep the console online and leave spare storage. PlayStation Network and Xbox network may slow down under the load, which can delay licence checks for a few minutes. Boxed copies hold a download code, so physical buyers download the full game too, and anyone buying on the day should plan for a large download.
