How Much VRAM Will GTA 6 Need? (4 GB, 6 GB, 8 GB Cards)

VRAM, the memory on your graphics card, holds the textures and other data the card needs right now. When a game needs more than the card has, it stutters or forces low texture settings, no matter how fast the card is otherwise. Open-world games are especially hungry, which is why VRAM is the spec most likely to rule out older and budget cards for GTA 6.

GTA 6 VRAM estimate by tier

All verdicts are estimates Estimate. Speed still matters: an old 11 GB GTX 1080 Ti has plenty of VRAM but lacks modern features, while an 8 GB RTX 4060 is faster in many new games despite less memory.

Why we expect 8 GB to be the comfortable minimum

• GTA V Enhanced, a 2013 game, recommends an 8 GB card such as the RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT on its official Steam listing Official.
• The PS5 has 16 GB of shared memory, and games commonly use well over 8 GB of it for graphics data.
• Recent large open-world PC releases often push 8 GB cards to their limit at high texture settings.

Does upscaling help with VRAM?

A little. Upscalers like DLSS and FSR render the game at a lower resolution and scale it up, which reduces some memory use and raises frame rates. They do not shrink texture data much, which is usually what fills an 8 GB card. If a PC version of GTA 6 supports them, upscaling would help a 6 or 8 GB card hold higher settings, but it will not turn a 4 GB card into a comfortable one Estimate.

How to check your VRAM

Press Ctrl, Shift and Esc, open the Performance tab, and click GPU. "Dedicated GPU memory" is your VRAM. Ignore "shared GPU memory", which is borrowed system RAM and much slower.

If your card has 4 GB
