There are no official GTA 6 PC specs yet. Unknown Based on our estimate, an RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB, RX 9060 XT 16 GB or Arc B580 is a good budget target, an RTX 5070 or RX 9070 XT suits high settings at 1440p, and an RTX 5080 class card suits 4K. Estimate
If you do not need a new card now, wait for Rockstar's official requirements.
The graphics card is the most expensive part of a gaming PC and the one most tied to GTA 6's real requirements. This guide groups current cards into tiers using our labelled PC estimate, which compares cards with the PS5's graphics chip, roughly an RTX 2070 Super or RX 6600 XT. We do not benchmark cards ourselves, so check independent reviews for real-game performance.
Graphics card tiers for GTA 6
| Target | Current cards in this class | VRAM | Status |
|---|---|---|---|

| Console quality with headroom, 1080p to 1440p | RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB, RX 9060 XT 16 GB | 16 GB | Estimate |
| High settings, 1440p | RTX 5070, RX 9070, RX 9070 XT | 12 to 16 GB | Estimate |
| 4K high | RTX 5080, RTX 5090 and similar | 16 GB+ | Estimate |
What matters most
- VRAM first. We expect 8 GB to be the comfortable minimum and prefer 12 to 16 GB for longevity. A big open world fills memory quickly. See GTA 6 VRAM requirements.
- Upscaling support. Nvidia RTX cards offer DLSS, and most cards support FSR. Rockstar's recent PC games support both, though GTA 6's PC features are not announced. See will GTA 6 support DLSS?
- Your monitor. Match the card to your resolution. A 4K card is wasted on a 1080p screen.
- Power supply and case. Check your PSU wattage and connectors, and that the card fits your case.
Cards that are likely to struggle
4 GB cards (GTX 1650, GTX 1050 Ti, RX 580 4 GB) and integrated graphics sit well below the console hardware GTA 6 was built for, based on our estimate. Older 6 GB cards like the RTX 2060 and GTX 1660 Super may manage low settings. Check yours in Can I run GTA 6?
What about used cards?
Used cards can be good value, especially last-generation 12 GB and 16 GB models. Buy from sellers with a return window, check the card runs stress tests without crashes or high temperatures, and avoid cards with only 4 GB of VRAM for GTA 6. Factor in power: older high-end cards can draw much more power than a newer mid-range card with similar speed.
Buy now or wait?
Wait if you can. GTA 6 has no PC release date, new cards launch regularly, and Rockstar's final specs could be higher or lower than any estimate. If your current card is old and you need an upgrade for other games anyway, a 16 GB card in the console-quality-with-headroom tier is a safe middle choice. More in the PC upgrade guide.
