There is no official answer, because GTA 6 has no PC version yet. Not announced Unknown Rockstar's recent PC games support upscaling: GTA V Enhanced has DLSS and FSR, and Red Dead Redemption 2 added DLSS in an update. Official
A GTA 6 PC port supporting DLSS and FSR would be the expected pattern, not a guarantee. Estimate
Upscalers render a game at a lower resolution and rebuild a sharper image, which raises frame rates a lot on mid-range cards. For a demanding open world like GTA 6, that could be the difference between console-like and high settings on many PCs.
What Rockstar's recent PC games support
| Game | Upscaling on PC | Status |
|---|---|---|
| GTA V Enhanced (2025) | Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR | Official |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | DLSS added in a 2021 update, plus FSR | Official |
| GTA 6 | No PC version announced | Unknown |
What each upscaler does
- DLSS (Nvidia): uses AI hardware on RTX cards to upscale and, on newer cards, generate extra frames.
- FSR (AMD): works on most modern graphics cards, including Nvidia and Intel, with newer versions also offering frame generation.
- XeSS (Intel): works best on Intel Arc cards and runs on others too.
On consoles, the PS5 Pro uses Sony's own upscaler, PSSR. Whether GTA 6 uses it on the Pro has not been announced. See GTA 6 on PS5 Pro.
Which cards support which features
| Feature | Cards that support it |
|---|---|
| DLSS upscaling | Nvidia RTX 20, 30, 40 and 50 series |
| DLSS frame generation | Nvidia RTX 40 and 50 series |
| DLSS multi-frame generation | Nvidia RTX 50 series |
| FSR upscaling | Most modern AMD, Nvidia and Intel cards |
| FSR frame generation | Most recent cards, best on AMD RX 6000 series and newer |
From Nvidia's and AMD's own feature lists Official. Older GTX cards, like the GTX 1650 and 1660, cannot use DLSS at all, which is one more reason they sit low in our estimates.
Frame generation: who it helps
Frame generation inserts AI-made frames between real ones, so the counter shows a higher frame rate. It works best when the game already runs at around 60 FPS. From a low starting point, it can add input delay and visual glitches, so it is a boost for strong PCs rather than a fix for weak ones Estimate.
Why it matters for your PC
If GTA 6 supports upscaling on PC, cards just below the recommended tier could still reach console-like quality, and frame generation could help 60 FPS on fast processors. It will not fix a lack of VRAM, though: textures still need room on the card. See GTA 6 VRAM requirements and our PC requirements estimate.
FAQ
Will GTA 6 have DLSS?
Unknown until a PC version is announced. GTA V Enhanced and Red Dead Redemption 2 both support DLSS on PC.
Will GTA 6 support FSR on AMD cards?
Likely, based on Rockstar's recent PC releases, but not confirmed.
Does upscaling reduce VRAM needs?
A little. It lowers some memory use, but texture data still needs space on the card.
