No, GTA 6 is not on Mac. It launches only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Rockstar has not announced a macOS version. Official MacBooks, iMacs and Mac minis cannot play it at launch.
No macOS version of GTA 6 exists or has been announced.
Apple Silicon Macs are powerful, and Apple has courted big games, but GTA 6 is not one of them. Rockstar has not released a native Mac version of any main GTA game. GTA V never came to macOS either, and Mac players have relied on workarounds that do not suit online games with anti-cheat.
Why there is no Mac version
- Rockstar has announced only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Even the Windows PC version is not announced yet.
- Rockstar's PC games use the Windows-only Rockstar Games Launcher and DirectX graphics, which do not run natively on macOS.
- Rockstar added BattlEye anti-cheat to GTA V on PC in 2024, which blocked workarounds like translation layers for its online mode.
Can you play GTA 6 on a Mac another way?
- Remote Play: if you own a PS5 and GTA 6, the PS Remote Play app on macOS can stream your console to your Mac. The game runs on the PS5. See GTA 6 Remote Play.
- Cloud streaming: no cloud service streams GTA 6 at launch. See GTA 6 cloud gaming.
- Windows on a Mac: once a Windows PC version exists, Boot Camp only works on older Intel Macs, and virtualisation on Apple Silicon is not suited to a demanding game with anti-cheat Estimate.
Remote Play on a Mac: what you need
To stream GTA 6 from a PS5 to a Mac, install Sony's PS Remote Play app for macOS, sign in with the same PlayStation account as your console, and connect a DualSense controller by USB or Bluetooth. Wire the PS5 to your router and keep the Mac on fast Wi-Fi or Ethernet. The picture is compressed and adds a little delay, but it is an official way to play your own copy on a Mac screen. Xbox owners can use Xbox Remote Play through a supported browser or app on Mac with a compatible controller.
