Will GTA 6 Run on Steam Deck?

The Steam Deck plays a huge range of PC games, so it is natural to hope GTA 6 will join them. Three things stand in the way: there is no PC version, the hardware gap is large, and Rockstar's anti-cheat history on Linux.

How the Steam Deck compares

Specs from Valve, Microsoft and Sony Official. The Deck has roughly 40% of the Series S's graphics power and half its processor cores. GTA 6 runs at 30 FPS on consoles, which suggests a heavy processor load. Matching that on four cores would be very hard.

The anti-cheat question

In September 2024, Rockstar added BattlEye anti-cheat to GTA V on PC, and GTA Online stopped working on Steam Deck and Linux. Story mode still runs. If a GTA 6 PC version uses similar anti-cheat for online play, the Deck might be limited to single-player, even if performance allowed it Estimate.

Remote Play: the workaround
