No, GTA 6 is not announced for Nintendo Switch 2. Rockstar has listed only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Official Any Switch 2 version would be a separate port that Rockstar has not mentioned.
You cannot play GTA 6 on Switch 2 at launch, and no port has been confirmed.
The Switch 2 launched in June 2025 and is far more capable than the original Switch, so fans hoped GTA 6 might appear on it. Rockstar has not announced a Nintendo version. This page explains how the Switch 2 compares with the consoles GTA 6 runs on and what would have to happen for a port.
How Switch 2 compares with GTA 6's platforms
The Switch 2 is a hybrid console that runs on a battery and must stay cool in a handheld body. Even docked, its graphics are generally considered below the Xbox Series S, the least powerful console GTA 6 supports Estimate. Its storage is also small next to an estimated about 200 GB install. GTA 6 runs at 30 FPS on the PS5, which hints at a heavy processor load from the dense city. Matching that on handheld hardware would mean deep cuts.
Could GTA 6 come to Switch 2 later?
It is not impossible. Big games sometimes arrive on Nintendo hardware years later with heavy optimisation, and Rockstar has brought older games to Switch. But Rockstar has said nothing about GTA 6 on Switch 2, and the PC version, which is far more likely, has not been announced yet either. Treat any "GTA 6 Switch 2 release date" claims as rumours.
Grand Theft Auto on Nintendo so far
Rockstar has a short history with Nintendo hardware, and it has mostly been handheld spin-offs or later re-releases rather than the main game at launch. GTA Advance came to the Game Boy Advance in 2004, GTA: Chinatown Wars launched on the Nintendo DS in 2009, and GTA: The Trilogy (Definitive Edition) reached the Switch in 2021. GTA V, the series' biggest game, never came to a Nintendo console. That pattern is one more reason not to expect GTA 6 on Switch 2 soon.
What Switch owners can play instead
Nintendo Switch players can already play GTA: The Trilogy (Definitive Edition) and Red Dead Redemption. To play GTA 6 itself, you need a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, and the cheapest option is the Series S. See the best console for GTA 6 and console requirements.
