GTA 6 has about 6.45 million digital pre-orders worth roughly $630 million, according to Sensor Tower's tracker updated on 20 October 2026. About 74% are on PlayStation and 26% on Xbox. Estimate
Rockstar and Take-Two have not confirmed these numbers, and they leave out boxed copies.
Sensor Tower is a market research firm that estimates digital store sales. Its GTA VI tracker has become the most-quoted source for pre-order numbers, because Take-Two only shares general comments about demand. The latest update shows steady growth four weeks before launch, and a platform gap that has barely moved.
The numbers
| Platform | Digital pre-orders | Estimated spend | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| PlayStation (PS5) | about 4.80 million | about $468 million | 74% |
| Xbox Series X|S | about 1.66 million | about $162 million | 26% |
| Total | about 6.45 million | about $630 million | 100% |
The previous update, on 13 October, showed 6.08 million pre-orders and $594 million, so around 370,000 digital pre-orders were added in a week. Estimate All figures are Sensor Tower estimates.
What the numbers mean for you
- PS5 is the main platform. If you are still choosing a console and want to play with friends later, the larger player base is on PlayStation. GTA 6 has no crossplay at launch. See is GTA 6 crossplay?
- Expect busy servers on launch night. Millions of digital copies will unlock at the same time, so pre-load early. Pre-loading opens on 12 November 2026, so follow the pre-load guide.
- Do not expect a discount soon. Demand this high gives stores little reason to cut the $79.99 price. Our GTA 6 price page lists every region.
