Sony's New PlayStation Pulse Headset Launches the Same Day as GTA 6

Sony is timing a lot of hardware to the biggest launch of the year, from limited-edition controllers to this headset. The Pulse sits below the existing Pulse Elite and keeps its main selling point: planar magnetic drivers, which Sony says are now larger for fuller bass.

Launch regions include the US, Canada, the UK, most of Western and Northern Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. The UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt are not on the first list. A higher-end Pulse Edge with noise cancellation follows in early 2027, price not announced. Reported

Is it worth buying for GTA 6?

GTA 6 runs at 30 fps on consoles, and a headset will not change that, but sound matters in a busy open world: traffic, police radio and directional gunfire all benefit from PS5 Tempest 3D audio. The Pulse's PlayStation Link connection also works with the PlayStation Portal, which helps if you plan to play GTA 6 on the Portal.

If you already own decent headphones, plug them into the controller and save the money. If you want wireless with low latency on PS5, the Pulse is the cheapest official option with planar drivers.
