A screenshot showing "244.86 GB required" for GTA 6 has been shared widely since a Reddit post on 19 September 2026. It is not confirmed. Unknown The public PlayStation Store listing does not show an install size, and Rockstar has not published one. Our planning figure stays at about 200 GB Estimate
File size is one of the most asked GTA 6 questions, which makes it an easy target for fake images. In the last year, screenshots claiming 676.7 GB and 750 GB went viral before outlets showed they were doctored. One of them even showed an Xbox One install prompt, for a game that is not coming to Xbox One.
What we know about the GTA 6 file size
| Claim | Status |
|---|---|
| "Just under 200 GB" on PS5 (2024 leak) | Reported |
| "244.86 GB required" screenshot (September 2026) | Unknown |
| 676 GB and 750 GB screenshots | Debunked |
| Official install size | Not published |
The 244.86 GB figure is not unrealistic for a game this large, which is why it spread. But a believable number is not the same as a confirmed one. The official size normally appears on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store listings close to pre-load, which opens on 12 November 2026.
What to do
Plan for the worst case without panicking. Keeping about 230 GB free covers the leaked 200 GB plus a day-one patch. If the 244.86 GB figure turns out to be real, you would need roughly 270 GB free with patch room, which still fits on every console except a full 512 GB Xbox Series S. Check your own console in the GTA 6 storage calculator, and see every model's usable space on our GTA 6 file size page, which updates the moment the official number appears.
