GTA 6 Release Time in Australia (AEDT): Pre-Load and Unlock

With the expected rolling midnight launch, GTA 6 unlocks in each time zone as it reaches midnight. Only New Zealand and a few Pacific islands start before eastern Australia. Because Australia spans several time zones, and some states use daylight saving in November while others do not, the local start times differ across the country.

GTA 6 unlock times by state

Times assume the rolling midnight launch that store listings suggest. Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia do not use daylight saving Estimate.

If Rockstar picks one global time

Some sites claim a single global unlock, but nothing official supports it. If it happened, Australians could end up starting in the afternoon or evening instead of at midnight. We will update this page the day Rockstar confirms anything.

Price in Australia

GTA 6 is reported at A$129.95 for Standard and A$159.95 for Ultimate Reported. Retailers such as Big W have listed the boxed Standard slightly lower. See the GTA 6 price page for other countries.

Getting ready

Australian broadband varies a lot by connection type. On a slower NBN tier, start the pre-load early in the week: 200 GB takes about 5.5 hours at 100 Mbps and around 22 hours at 25 Mbps. Steps for both consoles are in the pre-load guide, and the launch day checklist covers the rest.

Spoiler warning for early starters

Because Australia starts hours before Europe and the Americas, Australian players are among the first to see the story. That also means social media fills with clips from Australian and New Zealand players before most of the world can play. If you want to avoid spoilers yourself, mute keywords early, since New Zealand starts two hours before Sydney.
