How India's start compares
India is UTC+5:30. With a rolling midnight launch, India starts:
- About 5.5 hours before the UK (midnight GMT).
- About 10.5 hours before New York and 13.5 hours before Los Angeles.
- About 5.5 hours after Sydney and 7.5 hours after Auckland.
- 30 minutes after Pakistan (PKT is UTC+5) and 1.5 hours after Dubai.
These gaps are worked out from standard time zones Estimate. The main release time page has a live countdown and a table for other cities.
What could change the time
Some reports suggest a single global unlock, which would put India's start at a different hour, possibly in the morning. No official source confirms that. If Rockstar announces one time for everyone, this page updates the same day.
Getting ready in India
- Buy from the Indian PlayStation Store or Xbox Store, or an Indian retailer. PlayStation codes only work on accounts from the same region. Prices are on GTA 6 price in India.
- Pre-load early in the week. Evening hours in India are busy for home broadband, so a download started after midnight or during the day often runs faster.
- Work through the launch day checklist the day before.
Launch night in India
Midnight IST falls between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, so for most players it is a school or work night. If you would rather play fresh, nothing is lost by starting on Thursday evening: the game is already on your console after pre-load, and it unlocks the moment your console's clock passes midnight. If you buy a boxed copy from an Indian retailer, remember it contains a download code rather than a disc, so pick it up early enough to redeem and download before the weekend. Festive-season console offers often run through November, so compare prices before buying hardware.
