GTA 6 Standard vs Ultimate Edition: What Is the Difference?

The Ultimate Edition costs $20 more and adds in-game extras spread through the story. Here is what you get, what you do not, and who should pay the difference.

Quick answer

The Standard Edition ($79.99) is the full game. The Ultimate Edition ($99.99, digital only) adds the Ultimate Edition Upgrade: two extra missions plus vehicles, weapons, clothing and shops, unlocked through Jason and Lucia's story. Official

You can buy Standard now and the upgrade later, so there is no rush to decide.

Rockstar offers only two editions of GTA 6, with no Deluxe or Gold tier in between. The $20 gap buys extra content inside the single-player game, not a different version of it. Both editions run the same on every console and need the same storage. Regional prices for both are on the GTA 6 price page.

What the Ultimate Edition Upgrade includes

Rockstar's list, as reported by several outlets, covers around 16 items Reported:

  • Vehicles: including the '95 Grotti Cheetah, the Shitzu Squalo boat and the '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy.
  • Weapons: the Hawk and Little Morgan revolvers and personalised weapon variants.
  • Shops and services: Rideout Customs, One-Eyed Willie's, Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305 and the Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor.
  • Two exclusive missions, one built around a classic car collection and restoration.

Rockstar says the extras are spread through the story, with new items appearing in each chapter, so not everything is available from the start. Exact details can vary between reports, so check the store listing for the final list.

Is the Ultimate Edition worth it?

Worth it if: you know you will play GTA 6 for a long time, you enjoy collecting cars and gear, and the extra missions appeal to you.

Skip it if: you mainly want the story, you are on a tight budget, or you want a boxed copy. You can always add the upgrade later without losing progress.

Neither edition changes how the game performs or how much space it takes. Storage needs are on the GTA 6 file size page.

Pre-order bonuses and GTA+

Buying either edition before 20 November 2026 adds the Vintage Vice City Pack. Digital pre-orders also include one free month of GTA+, which renews at the regular price unless you cancel Official. Boxed copies do not include the GTA+ month. See does GTA 6 need PS Plus? for how GTA+ differs from PS Plus.
