Pre-load not showing at all

  • Too early: pre-load opens at local midnight on 12 November 2026, based on your console's time zone. Check the clock in system settings.
  • Wrong account: the pre-order belongs to the account that bought it. Sign in with that account.
  • Boxed code not redeemed: the box holds a code, not a disc. Redeem it in the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store first.
  • Region mismatch: PlayStation codes only work on accounts from the same region group (the UK is its own group). A wrong-region code will not redeem.
  • Purchase still processing: check your order history or email receipt for a pending payment.

Pre-load will not start

  • Start it manually: on PS5, open your Game Library, find GTA 6 and choose Download. On Xbox, go to My games and apps, then Full library or Ready to install.
  • Automatic downloads off: turn them on (PS5: Settings, Saved Data and Game/App Settings, Automatic Updates. Xbox: Settings, System, Updates).

Pre-load stuck or very slow

  • Pause and resume the download. This often connects to a faster server.
  • Restart the console fully, not just rest or sleep mode, then resume.
  • Use a cable instead of Wi-Fi, and pause other downloads and streaming at home.
  • Check the platform status page (PlayStation Network status or Xbox status). On pre-load night, servers can be overloaded for a while.

Pre-load finished but the game is locked

That is expected. Pre-loaded files stay locked until the game unlocks on 19 November 2026. No edition includes early access. Check the unlock time in your time zone on the release time page.
